Chris Gould asks if I would be in favour of limiting bus lanes to peak hours only.
The Western Road, Dyke Road and North Street approaches to Brighton's Clock Tower only operate from 8am to 6pm and are already widely abused by motorists.
Whenever the seafront is disrupted, cars illegally use these roads as an alternative, with consequential gridlock - as during July's roadworks - resulting in everyone being delayed, whether in cars or buses.
It would not be in anyone's interest for this to become the norm.
With regard to comparative pollution levels, I am happy at any time to submit a Brighton and Hove bus fitted with particulate trap and running on ultra-low-sulphur diesel to a pollution test against Mr Gould's car to see which is greener.
