A man escaped injury after being targeted in a drive-by shooting.
The man, from Hastings, was driving his car along King Offa Way, Bexhill, shortly after 9pm on Monday when he was fired at by the occupant of a car travelling in the same direction.
The shot hit the man's car.
Police, who only released the details yesterday, are refusing to say whether the shot was from an air-rifle or a handgun.
Police are anxious to trace the driver of a dark-coloured Range Rover with blacked-out windows, which they believe may have been involved.
Officers spent yesterday at the scene gathering evidence.
A stretch of road where the shooting took place was taped off but has now been reopened after police completed their forensic search of the area.
Hastings police have launched an investigation named Operation Skint.
A spokeswoman said officers were looking into possible sightings of the vehicle.
