For those with memories of starchy, scratchy school uniforms, Joy Twigg's business is a soft touch.

School attire these days is much less formal and much more comfortable.

Joy, of High Park Avenue, Hangleton, Hove, runs a school uniform business called Klassy Kids. She visits schools with a range of clothes and sells directly to parents.

She started the business 14 years ago when her own children, Daniel, now 17 and Vicky, 15, were her models.

Since then she has kitted out thousands of children in Sussex. And she has just notched up her first "second generation" child.

Grandmother Philippa Williams took her daughter Claire to Joy to buy her uniform. Now Claire is bringing her own daughter Shannen, four, to get her schoolclothes.

Joy said: "It's lovely to see the children growing up and now they are bringing their own children to me.

"School uniform has become much more casual. These days it is more polo shirts and sweatshirts."

Joy also advises schools on uniforms and works with them to create designs.

She holds regular uniform sales at Hangleton Junior School every Friday during the summer.

She can be contacted on 01273 723395 or 07779 473790.
