Gardening is in the blood of a winner of this year's Newhaven In Bloom competition.
Disabled pensioner Maggie Rottier, of Denton Drive, learnt her skills from her father when she was a child.
Mrs Rottier won first prize in the best front or back garden category after judges inspected her small back garden.
She said: "I think they liked my array of flowers. I have mixed borders and a lot of different types."
Her pergola covered in lavender and passion flowers caught the judges eyes as well as an old toilet with colourful blooms planted in it.
Mrs Rottier, a grandmother of three, has previously picked up awards for her pots and containers.
