Singletons in search of a partner will be able to take part in Brighton's first speed dating event next week.
Speed dating involves a group of men and women taking it in turns to meet each other for three minutes at a time, all in one night.
The women stay in one place while the men introduce themselves. After three minutes they move on and introduce themselves to another woman until all the women have met all the men.
If a particular couple get on well, they can arrange through the organisers to see each other again.
The event, which will take place in Brighton on Tuesday, has already proved popular with women.
But the organisers are challenging more men to take part, with the promise that there will be dozens of available women for them to meet.
Nigel Berman, who has masterminded the speed dating evening, said: "This kind of event has proved very popular in London.
"It started in Los Angeles originally and now it's all the rage there. It's about time we had one in Brighton.
"I decided to do it because friends had been to speed dating nights and said how great they were.
"They met lots of interesting people and had a great time so I thought it was something that would work well here.
"It's so democratic. If you go to a party normally, you might see people you are too nervous to talk to or just never get the chance to meet. In this situation you can meet everyone."
The event is open to men and women aged over 25, although most of the women's tickets have already sold out.
Tickets cost £20 in advance only, which will include a glass of champagne and fruity nibbles.
Tickets are available from Komedia box office on 01273 647100.
Details of the venue will be given on booking.
