According to Policing Sussex, crime is down in the county and police numbers are rising.
Also, we are informed that neighbourhood police teams are delivering excellence in local policing.
Can residents look forward to the police delivering excellence with regard to the laws on cyclists?
How many speeding cyclists riding across Shoreham footbridge have been fined in the past 12 months?
Recently, I was walking across the footbridge at 6am when a woman cyclist had to leap from her bike to avoid knocking me down because I had stepped aside to avoid dog excrement.
I found myself apologising to her when, in fact, she was breaking the law. I am 70 years of age and a collision with a speeding cyclist could prove fatal to me.
Cyclists should have to pay road tax and by law display a registration number so that pedestrians are able to identify them.
Motorists may find themselves held responsible for all accidents involving cyclists if the EU has its way. The police should prosecute cyclists who are committing offences.
Perhaps Sussex could lead the way for safety for pedestrians on footways?
