What happy times came flashing back when I saw the picture of the Hippodrome, Brighton (The Argus, August 12).
I remember, like Michael Parker, going with a couple of mates, when we had the money, to see a show there.
During the interval, on one occasion, we nipped into The Victory public house for a pint of mild. It was nearly time for the second half to start and we were saying it was time to go when a voice from the saloon bar said: "Take your time boys, they can't start without me."
It was the late, great Josef Locke, the Irish tenor. Lovely days.
