I am a volunteer at the Sussex Beacon charity shop in George Street, Hove.
We really appreciate the kind and varied donations from the good people of Hove and surrounding areas to help make money for a very deserving cause.
However, why do people repeatedly leave donations outside shop hours to be picked through and even stolen? I have seen this happen myself on many occasions.
On a lighter note, once, last winter, I passed my place of work at 6.30am with my dog. Hoping to save our manager, Marc, some time, I decided to clean up one horrendous mess of wet and totally ruined donations caused by bad weather.
I found, to my utter horror and shock, a gentleman of the road underneath the donations, fast asleep.
I thought he was dead and almost joined him. He was the worse for wear and had no idea where he was, poor guy.
Please think before you dump. Donations are gratefully received between 8am and 4.30pm and we will collect small items out of hours if local.
