Moves to return cash to disgruntled Railtrack shareholders took another step forward with the sale of more than 100 railway arches.
Parent company Railtrack Group has sold Railtrack (Spacia) to Railtrack plc, which is to be sold to not-for-profit company Network Rail later this year.
Spacia has long-term leases on about 130 arches, with uses ranging from workshops to nightclubs.
Under the deal, Railtrack plc, which already owns the leases on thousands of arches, will pay about £17 million in cash.
