A young man died after taking drugs while his parents were away on holiday, an inquest heard.
Matthew Smith, who lived at his family home in Adelaide Square, Shoreham, died after taking a heroin overdose last month.
The 24-year-old visited a flat in Oliver House, Hove, on June 18 and injected heroin.
When a friend in the flat found he had stopped breathing an ambulance was called but paramedics were unable to revive Mr Smith.
His parents were visiting a relative in Great Yarmouth at the time.
Brighton and Hove coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley said: "It is clear to me he had large amounts of support from his parents.
"But if you are unlucky enough to succumb to drugs, this is what happens."
She recorded a verdict of death as a result of an accidental overdose of heroin.
