Brighton Bears have re-signed popular forward Errol Seaman for a third year and seen last season's star import Albert White move to France.
Seaman, a 26-year-old Londoner, has been working on his fitness in the summer and is seen as a key part of coach Nick Nurse's strategy.
Nurse said: "We need help inside coming off the bench and Errol provides that.
"There are not a lot of big strong English players around and I can see our start to the season being much improved this time round with Errol and Wil Johnson being in such good shape physically."
White has signed for Chalons en Champagne, who finished fifth out of 16 in Pro B, the French second division, last term.
Nurse said: "I'm happy for him. It's a good move and reflects well on the Bears."
Nurse is hoping to re-sign Sterling Davis and is keen to link up again with his former Manchester star Roy Hairston as he looks to fill two remaining work permit slots.
