A MAN with a challenge ahead of him is Steve White, general manager of Cityclean, the organisation responsible for keeping Brighton and Hove clean.
In the past four weeks, Mr White and his team's name has been rubbished by some when their refuse was left piling up in the summer sun for days on end.
Some residents became so exasperated at calling on Cityclean to remove the rubbish that was mounting up, they called on The Argus for help.
Many feared the return to last summer, when the city was overcome with rubbish because of problems with private contractor Sita. That was in the past and the service has been taken back in-house by the council, headed by Mr White.
He says the cause of this summer's problem has been the change in collection rounds. He has promised they are teething problems and has thanked the city's residents for being patient following the introduction of the new rounds four weeks ago.
Mr White hopes that in the long run, the new rounds will improve the quality of the service. If they don't you can guarantee the residents will be kicking up one big stink.
