Lewis Denton and Rebecca Shelton won souvenir 2008 Beijing Olympic medals when they triumphed in the minithon at the Brighton and Hove City Open at Withdean.
Ovingdean artist Stephen Thomas, recently in China, donated the medals for the multi-event.
Denton (Crawley), a top Sussex club middle distance runner, collected his medal for his triumph in the boys' event.
He clocked 1min.38.6sec at 600m, for 31 of his winning total of 63 points. His shot putt was 6.88m (17 points) and long jump 4.37m (20 points).
Runner-up Ben Jeffcott (Phoenix) totalled 56 points. He clocked 10.9sec (24 points) in the 75m He shot 6.92m (18 points) and 3.87m in the long jump (14 points).
Rebecca, from Aylesford, clocked 11.1sec for the 75m (27 points). Her shot putt was 7.77m (26 points) and long jump 4.16m (21 points).
Jo Rowland (Crawley) was runner up with a 72-point total. She was timed at 1min.51.9sec in the 75m (30 points). She shot 7.03m (21 points) and 4.16m in the long jump (21 points.
Sixteen boys and 15 girls took part. The youngsters chose either to run 75m or 600m. They also picked between the high jump and long jump. Their final selection was either shot putt or discus.
Meeting director Chris Carter, a former Olympian, said: "We always present winners with a stick of Brighton rock but the Beijing medals were something special.
"The South of England AAA is trying to encourage young-sters to delay special-isation as long as possible and this was our aim when we piloted the minithon several years back.
"The County Association now hold minithons for under-13s at their annual championships in May each year."
