A flight attendant banned from driving for a year for drink-driving fears he may lose his job with Virgin Atlantic.
Lee Davies, 23, of Cliveden Court, London Road, Brighton, admitted at Brighton Magistrates Court to driving his Vauxhall Tigra while over the limit.
He was also fined £125 and ordered to pay costs of £55.
He was stopped by police driving along Ditchling Road, Brighton, on July 1 at about 5am.
Tests showed he had 82mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg.
David Horsman, defending, said Davies had worked for Virgin Atlantic, based at Gatwick, for two and a half years.
He said any driving disqualification would have a big impact on his job.
He said: "He is very upset by the incident and may well lose his employment."
Mr Horsman said Davies was concerned about getting to Gatwick without a car.
The court heard how Davies had spent the night before the incident drinking at a friend's house.
Mr Horsman said he had drunk lots of coffee and slept, which explained why he was just over the limit. He had no previous convictions.
Davies agreed to attend a drink rehabilitation course to reduce his one-year disqualification by three months.
