An Eastbourne eatery has been shortlisted for the title of Fish and Chip Shop of the Year.
The Trident Fish Restaurant, in Albert Parade, has been rated one of the ten best chippies in London and the South.
But staff will have to wait more than a month to discover whether they will reach the grand final of the UK-wide contest.
Owner Demetrios Photiou is expecting the Sea Fish Industry Authority judges to make their latest surprise visit "any day now".
He said: "Even the smallest mistake could ruin our chances. But I'm looking forward to showing them what we can do."
Mr Photiou hopes to go one better than two years ago, when his restaurant again made the regional top ten.
Three regional winners will be announced during Seafood Week, from October 4 to 11.
They will then go head-to-head with seven other UK regional finalists in London on November 13.
