Smoke and booze trips are encouraged by the ferry operators advertising through the media to France to purchase cheaper booze and cigarettes.
This destroys the policies of successive Governments to obtain more revenue and reduce heavy drinking and smoking - which are so bad for our health.
So, as the country loses revenue, additional costs have to be met by the taxpayer in NHS services for those people becoming ill by their own folly.
Let us also remember, while we feed French pockets with our millions of pounds, they will not purchase our first-class beef.
