To help Susan Joy (Letters, Aug 28) understand how straight women are recognised in gay venues, clearly they are found in the men's toilets.

They can also be identified because they are the same women dirty dancing with gay men while staying clear of lesbians.

Further evidence the woman in a gay bar is straight is found in her conversation when she and her friends pile into the male toilets.

I have yet to see lesbians crash so readily into the gents or straight women go into the gents in a straight bar. Gay men deserve less privacy for their toilet - is that it?

Is there any wonder Ms Joy is finding hostility when so many straight women have so little respect for gay space? If you have ever visited Club Revenge when there is a male stripper on a Thursday, women nearly outnumber the men.

Do you suppose all those laddettes, wolf whistling at a man taking off his clothes, are lesbians?

Club owners should stop dressing up their desire for greater profit as integration otherwise there will be no gay space left. As for Club Revenge operating a majority gay-only policy, I believe it would do best to change its name to Club Reps.
