A teenager who stole a chocolate bar from a seafront kiosk has admitted burglary.
William Wares, 19, of The Crestway, Brighton, admitted the offence at a kiosk at the children's amusement park next to the King Alfred leisure centre, Hove, when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court.
The court heard staff arrived at work one morning in June to find two kiosks, one selling tokens for rides and the other sweets and ice creams, had been broken into.
The door of one kiosk had been smashed, the inside ransacked and £50 cash stolen.
Two windows were broken in the other kiosk. It cost £400 to repair the damage.
Police found a fingerprint on a box of sweets and Wares, who has previous convictions, was arrested a month later.
He has been on remand in custody since his arrest.
Theresa Mulrooney, defending, said Wares had been with a group of four friends who broke into the kiosks but he did not cause any of the damage.
She said he had only taken a Mars bar and had nothing to do with the missing money.
She said: "He has spent most of his life in care. He has been in the health care section of the prison because he cut his arms and burnt himself."
The case was adjourned until September 23 for sentence. Wares was remanded in custody.
