Workers have begun restoring a Victorian viaduct at a cost of £175,000.
The East Grinstead viaduct was originally completed in 1881. Prior to electrification of the East Grinstead line it was used by British Rail for the overnight storage of locomotive hauled trains.
It was presented to the Bluebell Railway in 1992 and now the company is hoping once it is restored it will be able to extend its line into East Grinstead.
It is expected contractors will work on the structure for an estimated 15 weeks.
