Like many people in Brighton and Hove, I am proud to live in this progressive and forward-thinking City.

Brighton and Hove's success is largely due to its ability to move with the times. I am horrified, therefore, that the council allows Zippos Circus to perform here every year.

Circuses with performing animals are outmoded and cruel and are rapidly becoming a thing of the past in other towns and cities where councils have taken the decision to ban them.

I assume Zippos is not proud to have animals in its acts either, as it does not advertise this fact.

I demonstrated outside the main gate and many of the public were disappointed to learn Zippos has animals as part of its performance.

I remind the council circuses with animals have no place in the 21st Century.
