A bestselling author and headmaster is publishing a book of his thoughts on the past, present and future of Brighton and Hove.
Dr Anthony Seldon, who combines writing bestselling political biographies with a career as headmaster of Brighton College, will launch Brave New City at the Old Market in Upper Market Street, Hove, on Monday.
The 160-page hardback is a historical account of Brighton and Hove and how it achieved city status, celebrating the glories of its 18th and 19th Century architecture and examining 20th Century contributions to the urban landscape.
Dr Seldon also outlines his ideas for how Brighton and Hove can become a vibrant city by the sea, with a rejuvenated seafront, lively arts scene and thriving business sector.
The political historian has written 17 books, including The Blair Effect - a biography of the prime minister - and the Illustrated History Of Buckingham Palace.
At the launch, he will give a talk on the city's future, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Anyone attending the event, which is from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, can buy the book at a £5 discount.
Tickets are free and available from City Books, 23 Western Road, Hove. The store can be contacted on 01273 725306.
We will be serialising Brave New City, starting on Monday.
