Demolition work will start on Monday at the Hosiden Besson factory destroyed by flames last week.
Specialist asbestos contractors will carry out the task at the building in Victoria Road, Portslade. It will last about 40 days.
The area around the building, which was gutted by fire on Wednesday, has been cleaned and damped down to stop asbestos dust entering the atmosphere.
A laboratory will test the air over the weekend to ensure the safety of local residents in Portslade.
They will be told about the demolition work in a letter delivered to them on Monday.
