Stanmer Park is regarded by Brighton people as their own as a slice of country heritage on the edge of the city.
One of its minor attractions is the large number of sarsen stones, thousands of years old, which gave rise to the place name.
Some of these were removed by contractors so they could mow the grass and unfortunately were not replaced.
This meant that not only had a feature of the park gone but that drivers could go off the park road and ruin grassed areas.
Now the stones are being replaced and not before time.
They should remain undisturbed and the city council should put up a couple of notices in the park explaining their significance.
