I am glad to see a protest is starting against the risk of local post office closures.
How typical of this shabby government to begin by taking away one of the small post offices' reliable sources of business, the payment of pensions, and then propose closing them as a result.
We old people need our pensions paid where we can get at them and we need our local post offices.
The main post office in Lewes is at the top of the hill, while the shopping centre and a lot of the residents are at the bottom.
I would much rather pay higher taxes and see my local post office subsidised as the public service it is.
Also, closure would mean more cars on the road for the short journeys that clog up town centres. Is this the way we should be going?
