How many of your readers and their families truly enjoyed the explosive sounds of the fireworks on Tuesday night?
I'm sure, like me, they all love to see the sparkle and magic of the colours in the night sky but why the bangs?
They are just not necessary to the enjoyment the event.
The noise terrifies babies and small children, old people and those with certain mental illnesses.
I know it can distress war veterans, bringing back the horror of real warfare and it causes tremendous stress and suffering to all animals.
How many of you would go to a display that had all the fizz but no bang?
I call upon the groups who plan to organise an event next year to consider doing just that. You may be surprised how many more of us would turn up and how many in your community would be thankful.
