It was with a little surprise I read Jenny Langston-Barnard's "What else?" (Letters, November 4). While lashing out at the Capital of Culture bid, she criticised the Place To Be campaign as unnecessary.
I was startled by that because she made such sterling efforts to support the campaign as mayor. She sat on the executive and stood by my side on many occasions speaking about how important and significant a campaign it was.
What a shame she seems to have forgotten all that hard work she put in. Maybe when you jump ship from the Tories, amnesia is an absolute necessity.
Experience tells us when you become a Liberal Democrat in Brighton and Hove, all you do is oppose everything - even in retrospect and when you were involved.
And she was such a boon to the city campaign, too.
-Simon Fanshawe, former chairman of the Place To Be campaign
