A Sussex librarian will be keeping a date with Prime Minister Tony Blair next month.
Lesley Sim, head of services to children and young people at West Sussex County Council's library service, has been invited to attend a Downing Street reception.
The event will celebrate the work of children's authors and illustrators.
Mrs Sim was selected to mark her commitment to children's literature over the past 25 years.
She has been involved with a number of national committees, including the Association of Senior Children and Education Librarians and the National Youth Librarians Group.
Mrs Sim said: "I believe passionately that books have a positive effect on children. Enjoying and appreciating books from the earliest age significantly helps their future education.
"The Downing Street reception recognises the ongoing value of children's literature and the creativity of its writers and illustrators.
"I am very much looking forward to being reunited with many of the writers and illustrators I have met in the past and, of course, meeting the Prime Minister and his wife."
