A player turning out for County League division three side Haywards Heath has won a call-up to the full Nigerian squad.
Francis Kumbur has been named in an experimental Nigerian squad for friendlies against Jamaica on November 20 and Egypt five days later.
Now Kumbur has offered a 'Come and get me plea' to Albion as he bids to launch a professional career in England.
The 6ft 2in striker has won five full caps in the past, scoring once against Mozambique, but his last appearance was two years ago.
Kumbur, 23, was under consideration for a place in Nigeria's World Cup squad but was eventually overlooked despite scoring six goals in eight appearances for Conference side Yeovil Town towards the end of last season.
Despite being named Yeovil's player of the month for April, Kumbur left Huish Park in the summer when his agent fell out with the club and he has since been keeping himself fit with Haywards Heath, scoring 14 goals in six games to date.
While the call-up comes as a total shock to observers, particularly considering County League division three holds intermediate status, Kumbur admits he was hoping to hear something.
Kumbur said: "It is no surprise because I was hoping to be given another chance to show what I can do. I was expecting something like this because I have been playing well."
The unusually large 43-man squad does not include Kanu, Jay Jay Okocha or Taribo West as Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu wants to look at other players.
Kumbur, who was playing in the Singapore League before joining Yeovil, said: "They want to give other players a chance to prove themselves. Most of the players are ageing so they want have a look at other people.
"It does not matter the level you play at, high or low, they just want good players."
Torquay are interested in Kumbur and will watch him in a specially arranged friendly between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges on November 30.
The player himself is aiming higher. He said: "I am happy with Haywards Heath but I would like to play for a better team.
"I would like to play for Brighton if they were interested in me."
Haywards Heath manager Howard Dunn cannot believe London-based Kumbur has not been snapped up by a bigger club yet.
Dunn said: "He is a fantastic footballer but he needs to be playing at a higher standard. I have tried to get him in two or three clubs but nothing has happened.
"We offered him to Brighton. Our chairman knows Colin Smart, one of their youth coaches, and they were supposed to send somebody along to watch him in a game at Bosham but they didn't send anybody.
"I can't believe clubs round here is not interested in him."
Although the Nigerians have named a large squad, including players currently turning out professionally in Italy, France and Germany, Kumbur is expecting to be given a run-out in one, if not both of the friendlies.
