Albion picked up a valuable point in their battle against relegation at Wolves last night, but they still got a bum deal.
Kenny Millers's 76th minute equaliser for Wanderers in the 1-1 draw at Molineux deflected in off team-mate Alex Rae's behind.
"It hit his backside," said Seagulls boss Steve Coppell. "That happens when you are down at the bottom. Michel (Kuipers) said he had it covered."
Coppell was still delighted with Albion's first away point since the opening day victory at Burnley.
He reserved special praise for Kuipers for an astonishing double save in the second half which denied Rae and Dean Sturridge, and Bobby Zamora for his classy 15th minute finish.
"The double save Michel made was magnificent, really special," Coppell said.
"After he parried the first one I was more or less turning away ready to kick the dugout.
"Then he got his claws to the next one, which was sensational. By his own admission he has not been at his best over recent games, but he made up for it."
Albion, with fit-again Robbie Pethick as a third centre half, went ahead when Zamora cleverly clipped in his fifth goal in nine starts.
"It looked simple because of the way he took it," said Coppell. "He didn't panic. A lot of players get anxious and agitated in those type of situations, but Bobby looked in control and knew what he was going to do."
The Seagulls' fourth point in two matches was achieved at a heavy cost. Zamora was hobbling badly in the closing stages with a sore Achilles after Graham Barrett and Dean Blackwell had both been forced off injured.
The injury comes as a blow to Barrett, who has been recalled to the Republic of Ireland senior squad for the friendly international against Greece in Athens next Wednesday.
Barrett made a scoring debut against Finland in August and stand-in boss Don Givens said: "Graham has been due a chance for a while now and I felt, looking at the future, it was his time."
His strike partner at Albion, Zamora, has been called up to the England Under-21 get-together at Burnham Beeches next week.
