Anyone who wants a better grip on their home finances should get a copy of Home Finance for Dummies.
This comprehensive guide to controlling your money will keep tabs on the pennies and help you get the most from your pounds.
Users start out by entering an initial balance (what you have to start with). You are then prompted to list all your bills and expenses like rent, lighting, heating, petrol costs and phone bill. The software then calculates your income and expenditure for you and gives the results either as a graph or a columns of figures.
As someone who has infinitely more bills than income, I was surprised to see quite a few ways that I could save money.
I worked out a daily and weekly budget and printed the results as a guide to the coming month's spending.
This software isn't going to make me any richer but it may well help me to make a better job of budgeting for future expenses.
Home Finance for Dummies is a horrible name - who wants to think of themselves as a dummy? But it has the potential to help people to understand how to manage their finances.
