Worthing have taken 13 points from their last five games following last night's 3-1 home success over bottom side Chertsey.
It was not totally impressive but strike duo Mark Knee and Florian Mateos made sure Rebels were always in charge by both scoring inside the first ten minutes.
Knee's was a clever finish after a terrible mix-up in the visitors' defence.
The same striker then sped away down the left and crossed low for Mateos to slide in at the far post and hit the second.
Chertsey, without a league win all season and thrashed 6-0 at Bognor and 7-0 at Lewes, played some decent stuff at times and created a handful of half chances before the break.
The second half was played in persistent heavy rain and Rebels had chances to top up their goal difference.
Mark Hams brilliantly cleared off the line from Mateos, who then chipped wastefully over, before Ben Carrington fired home the third from a 75th minute corner.
Terry Davies thumped home Chertsey's deserved consolation goal in the final seconds.
Horsham face a replay in Oxfordshire after a 1-1 draw with division two side Abingdon Town in the Bryco Cup.
The Hornets got off to the worst possible start. Eddie French was booked for a late tackle in the first minute and from Jason Thomas' free kick Chris Harper drilled the ball home from a tight angle.
Goalkeeper Jonathon Beames twice denied Rob Collins from close range as Horsham fought back and when Gary Charman finally rounded the keeper in the 40th minute, his shot was cleared off the line by Tim Squires.
Horsham's equaliser followed a mistake by the otherwise excellent Beames. He spilled the ball as David Flemming advanced and the striker rolled it into the net.
Horsham came closest to breaking the deadlock 20 minutes into extra time, David Tregurtha kicking off the line from Charman.
