Crawley-based facilities management and property services group Connaught won the customer focus award, part of the National Business Awards for 2002.
The award judges said Connaught, based on the Manor Royal Estate, best demonstrated a successful business which put the customer at the heart of its company.
Chief executive Mark Tincknell said: "There is no secret to providing great customer service -
you just employ nice people.
"Only our people can deliver the service to our customers and we subscribe to the theory if you look after your people, they will look after your customers and that, in turn, will look after your shareholders.
"In our most recent customer satisfaction survey, interim results showed 62 per cent of our customers thought we were better or much better than our competition and 91 per cent said they would use us again."
