It is no surprise the Green Party opposes the idea of everyone voting by post at the next local elections, largely because it seems opposing things is what the Greens are all about. Look at their opposition to the new stadium for the Albion, for example.
The question is, if they are opposed to voting by post now, why did they not object to everyone voting by post in the citywide council referendum last year? They were happy to see a big turnout then and raised no concerns about ballot fraud at the time.
Could it have anything to do with the Greens contesting seriously just two of the 21 new council wards in Brighton and Hove next May and their chances of winning seats in those areas perhaps being harmed by a higher voter turnout?
