In the article "Terrorist? I'm an art student" (The Argus, November 15), a spokeswoman for Boots was reported as saying: "Our procedures were followed. If there is anything sensitive or of a distasteful nature in photographs, we have a duty to seek advice from the police.
"As for compensation, Ms Dyer the art student would have to contact the store in question."
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said Boots was right to contact them. She said: "The photos were very concerning.
"They had to be destroyed because we were worried they could be circulated. The lady signed a disclaimer allowing us to destroy them."
There are a couple of points here. Firstly, is Boots not just a bit too big for its boots?
Think of Julia Somerville; and of Boots' action in printing photos of a customer with a herbal cigarette in Hull.
Secondly, are all Friday's copies of The Argus to be pulped?
Just who are the terrorists?
