Lewes put their derby despair behind them with a battling 2-2 draw against Bath Buccaneers in National League division two.
Just a week after a humbling 3-0 defeat by Sussex rivals East Grinstead, Lewes produced a much better display to match their fourth-placed visitors.
Only a last minute penalty denied Lewes maximum points and there is plenty of encouragement ahead of this Saturday's visit to bottom side Blueharts.
Manager Paul Benoy said: "It was a good point but we should have got three.
"After the disappointment of the previous week, we bounced back with a fantastic team effort all round.
"To only concede two penalty strokes was an excellent team performance."
Lewes may have wondered if their luck was out when the division's top scorer, player-coach and Great Britain international Bobby Crutchley, put Bath ahead with a penalty stroke on 13 minutes.
Lewes forced a succession of short corners after that and Adrian Bettesworth, having twice gone close, finally equalised from one of them on 27 minutes.
In the second half Lewes took a grip on proceedings with some stylish play.
Their efforts were rewarded five minutes from time when Tim Garner went past three defenders before setting up Luke Hurle to put Lewes ahead.
However, the visitors rallied and drew level from a second penalty flick on the stroke of full time which James Mumme-Young converted.
For Lewes, Bettesworth took the man-of-the-match vote but there were several good performances, notably skipper Will Champness and Marnix Achterbergh.
