Alice Cooper is one of rock's true innovators: Gender-bending before David Bowie, a punk before Malcolm McLaren and wearing make-up long before Kiss.
It must be difficult to remain shocking when your first album was released 33 years ago but the second he came on stage, Alice proved he could more than live up to his legendary status.
By the end of the night, he had stabbed a sword-wielding girl, speared a baby and been beheaded by a giant guillotine.
He still had something for the encore when a Britney Spears lookalike came on singing Hit Me Baby One More Time. Alice chased her off the stage with a giant blade and returned clutching her severed head.
But let's not forget the music. Alice sang his tongue-in-cheek lyrics ("I'm homophobic/Don't do aerobics" was my favourite) over heavy guitar riffs and virtuoso rock drumming.
Hits such as I'm Eighteen, Dead Babies, Lost In America and, of course, School's Out proved once and for all that we're not worthy.
