It is good to see Brighton and Hove City Council improve the lot for cyclists in the hope of encouraging more residents to switch from car to bike.
But the whole point of a nice red contra-flow cycle lane in New Road, Brighton, is lost if the very same council fails to remove the right of vehicles to park on the cycle lane.
Just move the unloading areas and disabled parking to the east side of the road so cyclists can use the cycle lane.
