Goalkeeper Mike Brawley has been told he has no future at Bognor, despite picking up a man-of-the-match award and keeping a cleansheet in his two trial outings.
The Woking-based teenager won the sponsors' champagne in last week's 3-1 defeat by Crawley and also played in Saturday's 3-0 league win over Staines.
He has been left out of the side for tonight's derby at home to promotion rivals Horsham in Ryman League division two south.
Graham Bannatyne, the experienced former Lewes, St Leonards and most recently Hailsham No. 1, is given a chance to impress in the continuing absence of Craig Stoner.
Although Brawley made some good saves last week, Pearce had reservations about his lack of presence in the penalty area.
It could be a testing evening for Bannatyne as two of the most prolific goalgetters in the division go head-to-head.
Matt Russell has scored eight times in Bognor's last three league games while Horsham's Gavin Geddes ended a comparatively lean spell with four against Chertsey on Saturday.
Russell scored a Senior Cup hat-trick against Horsham YMCA the last time he came up against John Maggs's side.
Horsham boss Maggs said: "I still remember that. It was about my third game in charge.
"We know we will have to be at our best because Bognor have been scoring a lot of goals but my centre-halves Eddie French and John Kirby have been playing out of their skins."
Geddes was on target in his most recent game at Nyewood Lane as he helped Worthing to a 1-1 derby draw on Easter Monday.
He has been striking up a good rapport with strike partner Dave Flemming, leaving ex-Crawley man Rob Collins on the bench.
Guy Rutherford earns a recall for Rocks.
Pearce admitted: "Horsham have doing very well and it will be an interesting test for us."
Victory tonight would take Bognor second and Horsham third in the table, providing Dulwich Hamlet slip up at Epsom and Ewell.
