We are surprised Helena and Graham Benge (Letters, November 20) are finding it so difficult to put on a flamenco dance display in Worthing, where their shop is based.
We are a dance group ourselves, called Brighton Jive, and specialise in dancing to big-band swing and rock 'n' roll from the Forties and Fifties. Like Helena, we dress to impress when dancing and like to put on a show.
We run jive dancing classes at the East Worthing Community Centre on Thursday evenings for beginners, so performing in the town is a fantastic way of advertising these classes, as well as providing free entertainment for shoppers and passers-by.
We have performed in South Street Square several times, most recently on November 9.
As we were a group of six couples, we were able to dance almost continually for three hours and were seen by hundreds of people and have always found Worthing Town Centre Initiative really helpful and efficient in organising the booking of this space.
As well as dancing in South Street, we have danced at the Holmbush Shopping Centre in Shoreham, the Odeon Cinema in Brighton, the Marina, George Street in Hove, local schools and several charity events.
If you haven't seen us yet, we will be rubbing shoulders with those last-minute Christmas shoppers on Saturday, December 21, at the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven (dance display at 10.30am-midday) and at Sainsbury's in Newhaven (from 2pm).
We wish Helena and Graham luck in finding a suitable place to dance soon.
