I read with interest that Councillor Bob Carden has approached Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company about the poor service for the Fox Way area (November 20).
Roger French's response was that the service reflected how many people used the buses.
Having been a resident in the Benfield-Foredown area for 20 years, I would say due to the poor standard of service of the No 6 route over the years, many people have given up and walk down to the Old Shoreham Road in the hope of taking an alternative bus to their destination.
That is why Mr French thinks the number of people using the route reflects the number of people wishing to use the route.
There is no service available during the day and weekends for people in my area wishing to go to the sports centre or Portslade library or for pupils of Portslade Community College wishing to get to school.
It is not an enjoyable walk in adverse weather conditions - maybe Mr French should try it on a wet and windy morning, then sit in his office all day in damp clothing.
The times I have been late for work after waiting more than half an hour for the No 6 into Brighton only to be told "The No 6 has been taken off if, there's a problem with traffic" and so on. Some service.
