Work has begun to improve allotments in Lancing and the Adur District in general.
The aim is to improve plots and attract newcomers to start using them.
John Darling, of the Lancing Allotment Association, said: "An allotment provides healthy exercise, with tasty results for a low cost. Why not take one up this winter and give it a try?"
Concrete pathways and improved access are among some of the improvements at the Lancing Manor site.
Adur District Council is also planning to clear all vacant plots regularly to encourage people who have never used an allotment before to have a go.
Anyone wanting information about allotments should call Jeremy Sergeant or Peter Jones at Adur Council's park office on 01273 263159.
