A woman living near the scene of a fatal stabbing saw a man throwing a knife into a neighbour's garden hedge, a jury heard.
Susan Kazemi saw the kitchen knife being thrown when she looked out of her lounge window after hearing shouting and swearing in the street outside her home in Springfield Road, Brighton.
Ms Kazemi was giving evidence on the third day of a murder trial at Lewes Crown Court yesterday.
Daniel Collard, 20, a bank worker, of Lower Bevendean Avenue, Brighton, died on the night of March 22 after being stabbed in the heart.
Derry Davis, 20, of Hillside, Moulsecoomb, Brighton, and Lee Smith, 32, of Springfield Road, Brighton, both deny murdering him.
Davis has also denied attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to Thomas Wright, a friend of Mr Collard's.
Ms Kazemi told the jury she was watching television when she was disturbed by noise outside and saw a group of youths being followed by two men.
When the two men returned she saw one of them flick something, which glinted, over a neighbour's wall into the hedge.
The bloodstained weapon was later found by police.
The trial continues.
