Staff at a cancer charity shop are appealing for a security camera system after a series of thefts.

Volunteers at the Cancer Research UK shop in Seaford are furious with festive shoplifters who have been plundering goods, denying the charity vital funds.

Caroline Thompson, manager of the Broad Street shop in Seaford, said: "It's desperately sad that a charity shop should have to worry about putting stock on to its shop floor.

"My team donate their spare time to make a difference and then they are faced with this attitude.

"It's very disheartening. Perhaps these thieves will need Cancer Research UK's achievements one day."

The shop is appealing for a business or individual to donate a camera which could keep a watch on the shop floor to identify thieves and provide evidence of crime.

Caroline added: "Perhaps there is a business nearby, planning on updating its CCTV system. We would be delighted to receive such a device whether old or new."

Anyone who can offer a camera or security system can telephone 01323 897297.
