Brian Hunt, Lynda Hyde and David Smith's "In Touch 2002" flyer represented a reasonably balanced viewpoint of Saltdean affairs.
However, one point that was totally exaggerated is the apparent traffic problem when the Falmer stadium goes ahead. They must remember the following points:
The football season lasts from mid-August until April, with no games played during May, June, July and part of August.
During the season, matches are held only on about 20 days every other Saturday afternoon plus about five or six midweek evening games.
Each game last only about three hours from the time the spectators start to arrive until their departure afterwards.
The vast majority attending the stadium will use the park-and-ride facilities.
Consequently, events held a the stadium will not generate much additional traffic compared to the normal rush-hour traffic on every working day of the year - approximately 260 days.
The cry "additional traffic" is the only excuse for the Nimbys when all other logical objections have been discussed and found to be lacking in substance.
Keep up the good work, councillors, and stop worrying about mythical problems such as the above and think about what a fantastic boost to jobs and the economy in the area the stadium will give.
Incidentally, I am very much in favour of a Peacehaven-Saltdean-Rottingdean-Woodingdean bypass.
