In reply to Munir Syed (Letters, December 11), I would like to explain the process for call selection on the Southern FM Name Game competition. From the time the Name Game alarm rings, listeners have 30 minutes to call in with their guesses to enter that round of the competition.
An independent company, Broadsystems, the same as used by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, selects a caller at random and faxes the name to the radio station.
This process was repeated each time the Name Game alarm rang and continued for seven months until a total of £23,675 was won by Jane Ely, from Uckfield.
