How preposterous to even think of altering the established practice of using the terms BC and AD just because it might risk offending non-Christians.
Why on Earth should it? Historically, this is a Christian country so it is only to be expected the occasional reference to important Christian dates should be embedded in our culture.
As a Buddhist, I can say only a totally sad individual could possibly take exception to this ancient convention.
Does being politically correct mean we should forever have to dance to the tune of even the most pathetic of lobbyists? Perhaps we should re-write history as well, in order to avoid causing offence to the Germans and the French.
In my opinion, the whole notion of political correctness is ill-founded. It is just censorship under a different name. The more it embraces stupidity, the more risk there is that people will rebel against its underlying principles and things will finish worse than they were before the concept was invented.
