Two late converted tries capped a 50-10 thumping for Brighton at Dartfordians in London Three South East.
They were 15 points down inside ten minutes before Andy Light's try, plus a conversion and penalty by Mark Gibb, got them back into it for a while.
Skipper Mark Jenkins said: "We didn't play that badly but we failed to capitalise on the amount of ball we won in the first half."
Meanwhile, Lewes completed their first double of the season with a 20-7 home win over Gravesend.
They conceded an early try to prop Jamie Forsyth but Dave Tyrrell's penalty reduced arrears and impressive scrum half Matt Sole touched down to make sure of a half-time lead.
Tyrrell scored a brilliant try and also converted a penalty try in the second half to complete the win.
East Grinstead's problems mounted when they went down 6-5 at previously winless Betteshanger.
A thoroughly unpleasant experience was rounded off by two home penalties after Guy Cook had been credited with the penalty try which put Gs 5-0 up.
Eastbourne lost 20-3 at home to leaders Sidcup.
