Two Sussex athletes have received awards for outstanding performances at the All England Championships.
Carley Wenham (Ifield School, Crawley) and Wade Bennett-Jackson (Worthing High School) were selected by West Sussex Council for these annual prizes after performing superbly at Nottingham in July Wade marked his All England debut last year by winning the junior (under-15) boys' 100m title and followed up this season with silver in the intermediate (under-17) age group.
Wade had an excellent season and was fifth over 100m and 200m at the AAA Championships, quite an achievement for an athlete in his first year in the age group.
He is ranked fourth on the British Under-17 100m list (10.92sec), a time that makes him the No.1 sprinter in Sussex for any age group in 2002.
Carley (junior under-15) won 100m gold at Nottingham and was also victorious in the AAA England Championships at Birmingham in August.
She headed the British Under-15 100m list (12.08sec), a time which which beat her own Sussex record.
