Scores of asylum seekers are staying temporarily in the Gatwick and Crawley Holiday Inn hotels.
Inevitably there have been stories that they are living it up at the expense of the British taxpayer.
There's no doubt that staying in these hotels gives them a better standard of life than they have been used to in the past.
But it is strictly temporary and the Home Office is keeping an eye on them. It will ensure they are unable to enjoy the high life even if they wish to do so.
Most of these people are away from their families. They are keen to work hard and build a new life.
Many have undergone incredible danger and hardship in countries such as Afghanistan.
They have suffered privation unknown to most of us. They deserve decent and humane treatment in this country.
