An elderly motorist's car hit the front windows of a store packed with Christmas shoppers.
Pedestrians leapt out of the way as the vehicle careered into Millett's in Western Road, Brighton.
Two panes of glass were cracked by the impact at 1.10pm yesterday.
Manager Patricia Woonton-Pink said: "It looked as though the man was trying to turn round in Western Road but didn't quite make the turn. Luckily no one was hurt.
"We will have to board the windows but they were only slightly damaged."
